Aim and Goal of the Project:
Renovating existing primary schools and establishing vocational training centres especially in villages and remote areas in Africa south of the Sahara.
Problem Statement
Access to primary education is one of the Millennium Development Goals. CLEAN-AFRICA supports the people in rural areas of sub-saharan Africa and their children to obtain basic education and vocational training. There is a lack of teaching materials, trained teachers, and thus are less than 10% of the children go beyond the elementary schools. Primary education is basic and important, and should be immensely supported, if we are to avert mass movement of youths to towns. The parents in rural areas have low or no income at all to support the education of theier children, thus external support is needed to boost the little government subsidies available. There is a lack of teaching materials, trained teachers, and thus are less than 10% of the children go beyond the elementary schools.
Connection with other Projects:
Sustainable poverty alleviation.
What makes this Project so important?
Knowledge is Power. Without education, development is unimaginable.
Project Difficulties
Besides the long way children have to take to school, the parents must be convinced of the necessity of basic education for their children.
Project Risks
Children flooding the schools with insufficient number of classrooms.
Project costs
32000 Euros can raise a 3 classroom building using environmental friendly materials.
The Project is not intended for:
Supporting individual children. Intended is a community asset and basic service. CLEAN-AFRICA does not necessarily build new schools, we support the existing struggling schools in rural communities, for these do have beneficiaries that can gurantee project sustainability.
